“IBM-Fueled Rally Persists On Wall Street“. You gotta love headlines like that. Every financial news report from CNBC to the little news blurbs on radio stations are talking about Wall Street being up on great news from IBM. What great coverage and what a win by PR / marketing at big blue. By telling the street early their announcement wont be buried in with all the others in a couple weeks. That and a relatively slow news day / time of the quarter, made for a lot of free, positive mentions for IBM. The results (not to minimize them) are due mainly to a weak US dollar and the international nature of IBM, but that’s been spun as a plus (demonstrates the International nature of International Business Machines).
