From the press release:

The IBM BladeCenter QS20 is a Cell BE-based blade system designed for businesses that can benefit from high performance computing power and the unique capabilities of the Cell BE processor to run graphic-intensive applications. The IBM BladeCenter QS20 will expand the use of Cell into industries such as medical imaging, aerospace, defense, digital animation, communications and oil and gas — with the ability to dramatically transform those industries.

The article about this from the Register is great. If you’re interested you can read more there. A couple quotes I found particularly fun:

…high profile clients such as the University of Manchester and the Fraunhofer Institute are already running the much ballyhooed devices

and:

IBM has since been in touch to tell us that the starting price for a single QS20 will be a mere $18,995. So, still in the “if you have to ask…” category

I can’t hear the word ballyhoo and not think of Good Will Hunting.
