IBM Archive of Commercials

I’ve had a couple posts recently featuring IBM commercials. People have really seemed to enjoy them so I was tempted to add more. I decided against making new posts with the commercials because, though fun, they don’t really help us understand IBM today. As a compromise, I’m creating this page as a lasting archive of IBM commercials. The downside to having a page, or a series of pages, is that it gets really boring watching commercials over and over. If anyone has ideas on a better compromise please let me know. Enjoy!

I need your help

I get a number of emails from people asking me if I remember XYZ or could I check to see if I have PDQ in my hidden lab. Regrettably, I do not. I hope that one of you might. I’m posting some of the questions I’ve received in hopes that someone out there can help. Please contact me if you know something.

I have a huge favor to ask you guys. For sometime now, I’ve been trying to figure out a commercial song for IBM but it seems it’s not working out for me. So I was wondering if You could help me out. Things that I remember about the commercial are it was summery, lots of white and green color in the backdrop, and James Taylor or his voice alike was singing very catchy tune. It was on tv sometime between 2001 and 2003 while I was living in Wisconsin. Please find it for me if you can. It is just driving me crazy here :)

we have been in a great office debate over an old football commercial. “You make
the call” every one seems to remember them, but we are split on what company put them out. I think it was IBM…am I right? If so how to I find the proof for this.

What I’m specifically interested in is a piece of music that accompanied them-it was a repetitive ostinato, solo-piano I seem to recall. I’m not finding it in your archives. A few years ago I tracked it down, but can’t seem to find it anymore. I think the music was licensed for other company/products’ commercials as well, though I can’t remember what. Can you give me any clues here?
