IBM rolls out “mainframe lite” in China
AP reports that IBM has unveiled a less expensive version of its top-of-the-line z9 mainframe in hopes of expanding the market for its mainframe line to smaller companies, particularly in the fast-growing Chinese market. From the article:

IBM’s acquisition of Tivoli, 10 years later
The Austin Business Journal offers a 10-year retrospective on IBM’s 1996 acquisition of Tivoli, then a startup providing server monitoring technology and now one of IBM’s “five software brands” (along with Lotus, DB2, Rational, and WebSphere):

IBM’s new Intel-based server line

Court Denies Microsoft Subpoena for IBM Data
AP reports that a U.S. court in New York quashed a Microsoft subpoena for IBM documents related to the Microsoft’s European antitrust case.
Judge Colleen McMahon said Microsoft’s subpoena amounted to a “blatant end run” on the European Commission’s authority.
